Other Characters: N/A
Character Name: Yugo
Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V
Canon History: Here!
Canon Personality: Yugo is, most obviously, impulsive, quick to act on his feelings, easily distracted, and can come off as a bit dumb. He frequently mistakes Rin's interdimensional counterparts for Rin herself despite being corrected multiple times, hates it when people assume his name is 'Fusion' (融合, Yugo) instead of Yugo (ユーゴ), and jumped to trying to fight Yuto on the assumption that he was the boy who kidnapped Rin. (He wasn't.) He also insists on riding his D-Wheel during duels even when his opponent has to duel on foot, impulsively chases after Rin's true kidnapper on spotting him despite being in the middle of a tournament at the time, is remarkably relaxed about his unexpected interdimensional hops, and can be quite crude mouthed.
That said, he does have his hidden depths. Yugo is skilled at both dueling and riding his D-Wheel, displaying the ability to pull off impressive stunts on the motorcycle while mid duel and think on the fly, and even once managed a duel while forced to switch his D-Wheel from Autopilot Mode (basically a cruise control for dueling purposes) to Manual Mode (rider is in full control of the motorcycle). He also does know when to get serious and focus, such as when the people he cares about are in danger.
Yugo also deeply cares for his childhood friend Rin, to the point where it's painfully obvious he has a crush on her even if he doesn't recognize it himself. Yugo's primary goal in the series is to track down and rescue Rin after she was kidnapped, and it's obvious that he misses her dearly and would be delighted to have her back.
Rescuing Rin isn't Yugo's only goal, though. He also desires to enter and win the Friendship Cup, which is a rare opportunity for Commons born City residents like Yugo to prove their strength and join the Tops. Yugo particularly idolizes Jack Atlas, the only Commons born to ever previously win the Friendship Cup and join the Tops, and he desires to duel Jack one day.
While Yugo being remarkably relaxed about his interdimensional hops can be seen as a sign of him being kind of dumb, it's also a sign of his adaptability, as he manages to adjust to it quickly and generally seems to get his bearings well enough once used to the hops.
Finally, Yugo can be rather helpful to others, as seen when he chose to help Yuzu attempt to warn the residents of City of the impending interdimensional war despite having no way to prove it, and is proud of how far she gets in the Friendship Cup. He is also saddened when he thinks Yuzu was killed in a duel against Sergey, and promises to carry on for her.
AU Name: Yugo Takahata
AU Age: 18
AU Birthday: February 24
AU History:
CW: Near fatal motorcycle accident
🏍️ Was put into the foster system at a very young age; has no real memory of his bio family. As a fellow foster kid, he would have known of Shio (
reignitions).
🏍️ As Yugo grew up, he picked up an interest in motorsports, particularly motorcycle racing. This led to him trying to get into motorcycle sports and dirtbike racing himself by his teenage years.
🏍️ However, with his desire to pursue motorcycle racing came teenage recklessness. At the age of seventeen, just short of his eighteenth birthday, he attempted a stunt he'd seen on the internet. It ended horrifically, resulting in a serious dirtbike accident that would have killed Yugo if it weren't for the interference of the draconic demon Zarc.
🏍️ Yugo accepted the offered deal to save his life, 'miraculously' surviving his accident at the cost of becoming possessed. He doesn't really realize he was possessed though, instead viewing his half remembered interaction with Zarc as more of a bargain where Zarc gave him a second chance to live in exchange for entertaining the masses via motorcycle racing. Likewise, he also doesn't realize what will happen if he ever loses, since he has yet to lose a race ever since his possession.
🏍️ Yugo continues to pursue motorcycle racing, partially because he genuinely enjoys it and partially because his possession cost/'deal' demands him to partake in some kind of public entertainment once a month.
🏍️ His growing win streak after the accident is earning him some fame as a skilled racer amongst motorsports enthusiasts, especially for someone as young as him.
🏍️ He also recently got adopted/taken in by the Takahatas some time after his accident (just in time too, as he was about to age out of the foster system), making Shio his brother.
AU Personality Differences:
🏍️ Somewhat less streetwise: Unlike the canon Yugo, who grew up in an orphanage in a slum, this Yugo benefited from an actual foster system (as much as one can benefit from that). As a result, he's not quite as streetwise as the canon Yugo, and tends to be not as wary of cops as his canon self.
🏍️ Not as used to supernatural stuff: The canon Yugo is extremely used to being teleported from dimension to dimension. This version of Yugo is only just learning about the supernatural existing, so he's quite a bit more taken off guard by it all.
🏍️ A little more mature: Yugo, being eighteen vs his canon self being fourteen, has a little more maturity from age. That said, he's still a dumbass.
🏍️ Better education: Due to being raised in an actual foster system instead of an orphanage in a slum, Yugo has better education than his canon self. Again though, he's still a dumbass.
Element: Wind
Purchased Powers:
🏍️ Medium Speed Boost- 3 points
🏍️ Medium Luck- 2 points
🏍️ Low Fall Damage Reduction- 2 points
🏍️ Small Spirit Companion- 2 points (His spirit companion looks like this.)
Possession: Yugo was possessed by the draconic entity Zarc after a nasty dirtbike accident, owing to the violent but competitive entity seeing Yugo as potentially useful. This possession has a steep cost; Yugo must partake in some kind of public entertainment/competition at least once a month and win. Yugo satisfies this via motorcycle races.
If he doesn't win, Zarcthrows a hissy fit forces Yugo into demon mode and starts attacking anyone nearby until Yugo is either subdued or Zarc drags his unfortunate host to the Spirit Realm. Likewise, if Yugo doesn't enter enough races to please Zarc, then Zarc gets more and more angry until a demon mode incident is forced.
